Na’im Aziz explains who, what, when, where, why and how
We’re really excited about Na’im Aziz! Na’im is an eclectic free spirited artist and songwriter that we met through another client and friend. We started working closely with Na’im not too long ago and are finally ready to start releasing some of the amazing music that’s come from our creative union. Take a few moments to learn his who, what, when, where, why and how.
Zuko) Who do you think is the greatest artist/band of all time?
Na’im) Micheal Jackson because of the way he moved with the business.
Zuko) What you been listening to?
Na’im) A lot of my own music and my playlist on Spotify Na’im’s Frequency.
Zuko) When did you want to become a professional musician/artist?
Na’im) When I was a kid in Africa I watched Thriller (music video) over and over and I eventually expanded to all of MIcheal’s hits. I thought it would be fun to sing but I wanted to be the president then. When I was in college and I had a spiritual awakening and realized that I had a choice in the way I spent my time, the only choice for me after that point was music and making it the way I wanted to.
Zuko) Where are your favorite venues to play?
Na’im) Not so much where but a feel, I like smaller more intimate spaces and longer sets where I can feel into where people are and communicate with then instead of performing at them. So, anywhere that’s supportive to that intention would be a favourite place to play.
Zuko) Why do you make music?
Na’im) Music, is a form of magic and a spiritual practice, in my journey of self awareness I find it paramount to keep music at the center of my life as it allows me the proper platform and framework to interact with life as a whole. I like to say “My music is my magic and my magic is my prayer”. My music is my sanity; it is what allows me to be a conscious participant in my life and in the world. My music is my inspiration, and what I use to convince me to believe in myself when I cannot find a logical reason to. My music in my opinion is the greatest gift I posses because it is the skill I have worked hardest to perfect. Music is my dance with the Tao, my co-creation with infinity. My “walk with God”. And I’m elated to finally be in a place where it makes sense to me.
Zuko) How do feel about the local music scene in your city?
Na’im) No opinions; I’m just discovering every body. I can say it is quite diverse and rather inviting in my experience.
