Oceanic explains who, what, when, where, why and how
We absolutely love this band! Oceanic might be one of the most complete acts we’ve encountered in the past year or so. The music is great, they’re ultra professional, and their live show is stellar to see the least. We predict great things in the upcoming year for Oceanic. Take a second to learn their five Ws and one H.
Zuko) Who do you think is the greatest artist/band of all time?
Oceanic) I think we all would have a different answer to this. But I think a good answer is Coldplay. Considering song writing, performance, live show details, how they treat their fans, and how they view people as a whole, these things make them a band we truly look up to.
Zuko) What you been listening to?
Oceanic) I (Jacob/guitarist) have been listening to a lot of SZA, The Neighbourhood, Tame Impala, and random playlists to try to find new things.
Zuko) When did you want to become a professional musician/artist?
Oceanic) As soon as I found out it was possible to actually make a living doing it. Which was pretty early in life.
Zuko) Where are your favorite venues to play?
Oceanic) We love a few of our home town venues. Snug Harbor and Amos’ Southend. But we also love Lily’s snack bar in Boone, NC and a house show venue called Theirs in Glassboro, NJ
Zuko) Why do you make music?
Oceanic) We started the band very organically. Basically just what we liked to do when we hung out, which was every day. It is a natural part of our friendships and we kinda just do it because it happens.
Another comment is we genuinely love human connection and discovering life as it comes at us. We feel like making music is a great way to process life and share our thoughts with others to hopefully help them and build connections with them. Our silly little way of trying to leave the world better than we found it.
Zuko) How do feel about the local music scene in your city?
Oceanic) The Charlotte music scene has definitely been on the up and up since we moved here more than 3 years ago. It is very supportive and communal and I hope to see it continue to become more supportive and full of artists and bands who enjoy the community that music can bring.
