Aaron Rizzo explains who, what, when, where, why and how
We’ve been hearing a bunch of great things about singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Aaron Rizzo…. mainly from other acts in the Atlanta market and venue talent buyers discussing how great of a performance he delivers. This prompted us to book him for 404 Day - Live from SOBATL on April 4, 2024. We’re pretty excited to see his set. In the meantime, take a second to learn his five Ws and one H.
Zuko) Who do you think is the greatest artist/band of all time?
Aaron Rizzo) This question is always impossible to answer. So many people have pushed music forward in a meaningful way. If I HAD to give an answer, I'd say Jimi Hendrix. What he did for the guitar community and the attitude of music in general can never be put into words significant enough to truly describe what he's contributed to the world. I wouldn't be here without him.
Zuko) What you been listening to?
Aaron Rizzo) In an effort to shake up my usual go-to artists, I've been listening to a mix of things. However, I'm only human and I keep going back to The Brothers Landreth. They're a mix of singer-songwriter, soul and rock and I simply cannot get enough.
Zuko) When did you want to become a professional musician/artist?
Aaron Rizzo) Some of my earliest memories are wanting to be a rockstar. I've always had a magnetic pull towards music and artistry. It's been there as long as I can remember.
Zuko) Where are your favorite venues to play?
Aaron Rizzo) I love a packed club or hall, but ultimately it's the venues where people are there to listen and enjoy the show. We're there to put on a show and nothing feels better than when the crowd is just as hyped as we are.
Zuko) Why do you make music?
Aaron Rizzo) On multiple occasions, music has pulled me out of some of the deepest pits I've ever known. I know the power it has to sync our species together. I feel incredibly lucky to be a mouthpiece of whatever higher power is sending these songs to me, and it would be a disservice to keep them to myself. I want to connect with people on the deepest level imaginable and make them feel how I feel when I'm engulfed in it.
Another comment is we genuinely love human connection and discovering life as it comes at us. We feel like making music is a great way to process life and share our thoughts with others to hopefully help them and build connections with them. Our silly little way of trying to leave the world better than we found it.
Zuko) How do feel about the local music scene in your city?
Aaron Rizzo) Atlanta has been nothing but amazing to me. As a native of New York State, I wasn't sure how or if I'd be accepted. This scene has welcomed me with open arms and has been gracious enough to give me a stage to play on and lights to stand underneath. I'll always feel immense gratitude for the scene of this city.
