Couch Cult explains who, what, when, where, why and how
Although Couch Cult is very new on our radar, we knew really quickly that we wanted to book them for a show! We just happen to catch them at a sold-out 529 show last fall. The band sounded great, the songs were rocking and they kept to crowd captivated with a stellar opening set. Needless to say, we reached out. Couch Cult will be playing Live from SOBATL on Friday, March 8. In the meantime, take a few minutes to learn a little bit more about them.
Zuko) Who do you think is the greatest artist/band of all time?
Couch Cult) We struggle to name just one band or artist; Mike says Silverchair, the rest of us say whoever we are obsessed with at the moment.
Zuko) What you been listening to?
Couch Cult) Mostly bands lately - Softcult, Chief, Mark Lettieri, the Kooks, Lunar Vacation...
Zuko) When did you want to become a professional musician/artist?
Couch Cult) All of us knew we wanted to be musicians from as early as childhood.
For Mike, it was the first time he heard Thriller at 6 years old and Robin - convinced she'd be a performer one day - used to put on performances for her parent's friends around that same age. In Case's case, he knew since middle school.
Zuko) Where are your favorite venues to play?
Couch Cult) Masquerade, Smith's Olde Bar and the other Atlanta classics.
Zuko) Why do you make music?
Couch Cult) It's our happy place. We do it for the love of the craft, the peace it gives, and the magic of connecting through live performances.
Zuko) How do feel about the local music scene in your city?
Couch Cult) We love the diversity in music styles, how much everyone supports each other, and how many DIY venues and community-driven events there are in Atlanta. It truly feels like there is something for everyone in this city.
