Zuko) Who do you think is the greatest artist/band of all time?
Elijah Cruise) Personally, I've always felt that Prince reigns as the most creative and unique artist of all time, hands down. His music just speaks to me in a way that's unmatched. And you know, Bowie's right up there too, in my book. The way he reinvented himself and his sound over the years – it's just mind-blowing. Both of them, they push boundaries like nobody else, you know?
Zuko) What you been listening to?
Elijah Cruise) Lately, I've been hooked on Yungblud, Måneskin, and Brakence. Their music just hits the spot for me.
Zuko) When did you want to become a professional musician/artist?
Elijah Cruise) When I was 5 or 6 years old I think was the first time I told my family I wanted to be a famous singer.
Zuko) Where are your favorite venues to play?
Elijah Cruise) Any festival stage ever, Smiths Ole Bar in Atlanta, and Scruffy City Hall in Knoxville!
Zuko) Why do you make music?
Elijah Cruise) Music is like oxygen to me. I've been immersed in it for so long that I can't imagine existing without it. It's more than just a passion; it's a fundamental part of who I am. While I hope my music resonates with people and helps them feel less alone, even if nobody ever listened, I'd still create as much music as possible. It's that essential to my being.
Zuko) How do feel about the local music scene in your city?
Elijah Cruise) Knoxville will always hold a special place in my heart. It's got its own vibe that really meshes well with certain genres, maybe not so much with others, but hey, it's evolving, and that's what counts. With how easy it is to travel these days for touring, any limitations I feel in one place are easily overcome.
